Cognitive Reflection Test

This is interesting test for measuring of one's cognitive ability.
People tend to use his/her own heuristic approach in his/her decision making process. And this heuristic procedure have some features such as,
1. Bias
2. Frame dependency
etc.

But Heuristic-based decision making is not so bad.
It is a kind of "shortcut" and helpful for
1. save more time and effort
2. give quicker response
and so on.

There are several cognitive “style” in the "human shortcut procedure". The CRT(Cognitive Reflection Test) will be able to show the cognitive ability or cognitive “style.”(i.e. The CRT reveals how stupid you are.)

Now, let's try!

Q1.
A bat and a ball cost $1.10. The bat costs $1.00 more than the ball.
How much does the ball cost? (15seconds)

Q2.
If it takes 5 machines 5 minutes to make 5 widgets, how long would it take 100 machines to make 100 widgets?
(10seconds)

Q3.
In a lake, there is a patch of lily pads. Every day, the patch doubles in size.
If it takes 48 days for the patch to cover the entire lake, how long would it take for the patch to cover half of the lake?
(5seconds)

I will show you the answers in the next column.
